Brentwood

Brentwood has a low-keyed ambience all its own. Located west of the 405 Freeway, its main commercial street is San Vicente Blvd. Friends and families gather there to casually shop, market, checkout the public library, pick up a mocha frost or sit down for a meal. The area has continued to grow, with the conversion of nearby apartments and the construction of new condominiums projects.

Similarly, many of the single family homes located north and south of San Vicente and Sunset Blvds have undergone a transformation. Traditionally typical Brentwood homes have a warm country feeling: hardwood floors, French doors, a large fireplace in the family room beautiful flowers in the garden and the almost mandatory Californian swimming pool and barbecue. Rennovations and new construction have expanded to include grander Mediterranean and Architectural styles, while at the same time maintaining an indoor/outdoor sensibilty. The wonderful picturesque estates of Brentwood Park epitomize the best of Brentwood real estate.

For an even more rural feel there is Lower Mandeville Canyon and a few sections in Brentwood which are permitted for horses.

The gated community off of Mandeville Canyon, Brentwood Country Estates, is another glamorous, high-end example of country living, which combines city, mountain, and ocean views, all in one.

One of the landmarks of Brentwood is the Brentwood Country Mart located at 26th Street and San Vicente Boulevard. Once an early farmers´ market with a big red barn facade, it is today a collection of quaint shops and restaurants. Close by the Brentwood Country Club incompasses an 18-hole golf course and numerous tennis courts. Motorists driving by often see joggers running along its perimeter. For the convenience of the locals there is an area with shops and restaurants just south of Sunset called Brentwood Village.
